A Secret Drawer Logo
A logo for my online shop “a secret drawer“. We all used to keep little things such as shiny stones and antique buttons in the drawer, right? This shop aims to sell little something that reminds you of that feeling.
Both swirling botanics and birds are my favorite themes and what I saw at my trip to Hiraizumi also inspired me. Hiraizumi was a capital of north Japan once. The area was rich in gold, so the Fujiwara family, who ruled the area built ravishing temple using lots of gold leaves and mother of pearls. This particular item is called “Keman” used in Buddhist temples for decoration. It looks like a pendant top but much bigger, big enough to wrap a column.
Etsyにあるオンラインショップ 『シークレットドロワー』のロゴです。子供の頃石ころとか蝉の抜け殻とかビー玉とかボタンとかを集めて引き出しの中の缶に入れたりしていませんでした？ いくつになっても「オキニイリ」を集めるのは楽しいもので、引き出しに入れておきたくなるようなものを扱うのが目標です。自分の好きなもの、ということで花と鳥をモチーフに決め、その後たまたま旅行で行った平泉の中尊寺で見た華鬘（けまん）を参考にしました。華鬘というのは、仏教寺院で使われる装飾のこと。形はペンダントトップのようですが、サイズはその何十倍にもなります。
